With increased focus on getting products faster to the market, more companies are looking to apply Agile project management methods and therefore are demanding project managers to know and apply the PMI and agile principles equally. The agile way of project management focuses on continuous improvement, scope flexibility, teams' inputs, and delivering quality products. Agile Project Management adhere to the 12 key Agile Principles, which focus on product, people, communications, and flexibility.

The 12 Agile Principles

  • Satisfy the customer through early and continuous delivery.
  • Solicit changing requirements.
  • Deliver working software frequently.
  • How well the software works is by testing it often and continuous.
  • Agile processes promote sustainable development.
  • Continuous attention to technical excellence and good design enhances agility.
  • Simplicity is essential.
  • The best architectures, requirements, and designs emerge from self-organizing motivating teams.
  • At regular intervals, reflect on how team is working together. Tune and adjust things accordingly.
  • Business and IT (developers) must work together daily throughout the life of the project.
  • Build projects around motivated individuals.
  • Rely on fact-to-face communication which is most efficient and effective method of conveying information.

PMI is making certain changes to the CCR Program, effective 1 December 2015 to align with the PMI Talent Triangle. PDUs programs must adapt to the new changes. Our programs are already compliant with the new CCR Program.

PMI Talent Triangle — is a combination of technical, leadership, and strategic and business management expertise to ensure PMI certification holders are equipped to remain relevant in a continually changing business environment.

The overall framework of the CCR program remains the same. Certification holders will continue to earn PDUs in the categories of Education and Giving Back. How PDUs in those categories are classified will be different.

Education

  • 60% of PDUs are now required in this category, providing you with additional educational opportunities.
  • Education PDUs are aligned with the PMI Talent Triangle.
  • A minimum number of PDUs must be earned in Technical Project Management, Leadership, and Strategic and Business Management categories.

Giving Back

  • The maximum number of total PDUs to be earned in this category has decreased.
  • Activities remain the same: Volunteering, Creating Knowledge and Working as a Professional.
  • The total number of PDUs to be earned in Working as a Professional has decreased.

How to maintain PMI Certifications

Category: Blog
Written by 11Concepts

Once you earn your certification, you need to comply to PMI’s Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program which essentially recommends you to participate in professional development activities to earn professional development units (PDUs) in order to maintain your certification(s). Both PMP and PgMP holders will need to earn 60 PDUs per three-year cycle. To earn and report, this link is a good starting point: https://ccrs.pmi.org/search/ . Our website can also help you earn PMI PDUs. For more information, visit our home page at http://11concepts.com/pm
